What if the Oxygen is doubled in the atmosphere!!

Our atmosphere consists of 20% of Oxygen, 70% Nitrogen and others being at 10%. In our daily life, 90% of energy comes with the Oxygen intake and remaining 10% with food consumption. By increasing the Oxygen to double its quantity, there are lot of complications, as below

The increased amount of Oxygen in our body can lead to a lungs damage. poor eyesight and cells not being reproduced because of increased chances of oxygen toxicity in humans. And also having too much amount of Oxygen creates free radicals (atoms) that look for other electrons to pair up, which leads to a damage of human body and DNA also.



The easy noticing factor would be the giant bugs! In general, insects take Oxygen with their trachea (similar to human nose). By increase in the Oxygen in atmosphere, their trachea also get expanded and thereby, the insect's body also get increased in size, to become giant bugs.

Then comes the fire into play. We know that oxygen is key ingredient for fires to spread & expand. Because of increased quantity of Oxygen in atmosphere, there will be a massive fire explosions everywhere causing a lot of damage to both property and life forms.

The earth's crust (the lithosphere that we are living upon) gets more heavier than the atmosphere, because of the increased amount of Oxygen. This would lead to oxidization of the huge water bodies, so the water turns into hydrogen peroxide, which will make the water to evaporate quickly.

However, there are few advantages also because of the Oxygen increase in atmosphere. With the higher oxygen levels, we would be a lot more energetic than normal and get more active because of the improved blood circulation in body. We would see less diseases and would not be sick because of the increased number of infection-fighting immune cells, known as Neutrophylls.

Surprisingly, we would not become Hulks (as in Avengers movie).

What if the Oxygen is disappeared from earth for five seconds!

Imagine, if all the Earth’s oxygen disappeared. Not forever, but just for 5 seconds. Most of us think that we can go for at least 30 seconds, without oxygen, and so there would not be much difference for us of five seconds without Oxygen, and it would happen too fast that even our body would ever notice it. But the fact is there will be a disaster and no life remain on earth.


The building constructions, wherever you see the architecture is made by concrete gain a huge destruction causing a massive annihilation of humans. This is because oxygen acts as a special binding agent to concrete. Without oxygen, concrete is dust. In the absence of oxygen, the bonds break and concrete demolishes, thus leading to huge collapse of all buildings.

Not only concrete, but also metals lose their shape. Any metal which is not treated with anti corrosive substance would instantly fuse with each other. This is because there is an oxidation layer on metals preventing them to get welded to each other. Without that oxidation layer, the metal would instantly bind to each other

If you happen to relax, play in a big park or in a beach with no shadow, that is under the direct rays of the sun, expect a severe sun burn. This is because the ozone layer which protects us from dangerous ultraviolet rays produced by the sun is completely made up of oxygen molecules. The disappearance of one of the most important element, oxygen, results in vanishing of ozone layer which, in fact troubles us by ruining our pretty and delicate skin.

In addition to sunburn, our inner ear would explode. Losing oxygen means losing 21% of our air pressure in the body. Change in air pressure that drastic would be equal to a person falling down into the sea level of 2000 meters instantly. Our body and ears would hardly get time to adopt this scenario. Resulting in blasting of ear drum which is connected to the nose by Eustachian tube.

Vehicles work by combustion stop functioning leading to accidents. There would be a lot of plane crashes, because oxygen is essential for fire combustion.

While this happens, the earth's crust starts crumbling. This is because earth's crust is made up of 45% of oxygen. Resulting in every object to free fall into the core leading to extinction of life on earth.

The earth's core stops burning because of disappearance of oxygen. As we know, oxygen is a necessary element for burning.

The inner part of core and the outer part of core rotate at different velocities, generating electrical and geo magnetic waves all over Earth. These geo magnetic waves acts as a barrier and also a shield protecting the earth from highly energized particles released by not only sun, but also any star.

While the earth's core stops burning because of disappearance of oxygen, the Earth's geo-magnetic field which is produced by the core also disappears. When this happens, the highly charged particles produced by sun hits earth, then these solar waves strip away our atmosphere. Resulting in escaping of water in the form of steam,gaseous elements.

After this five second gap, the reappearing of oxygen is waste. Because if there's no atmosphere, the gaseous elements, such as oxygen would escape from Earth.

And also if there's no atmosphere, there is no medium for sound to travel.The atmosphere particles also reflect sun's light, resulting in vision of the blue sky. If there is no atmosphere ,there will be no particles reflecting the sun's light, resulting in the black sky vision.

Hence, without oxygen, we are nothing, but dust. Not for a big time gap, just only for a 5 second absence of oxygen would lead to human's extinction.

Fictitiously, this can be co-related with "Avengers Infinity War" movie, where Thanos killing half of the Earth's population just like that... making them into dust. He would have applied the same scenario of removing Oxygen from Earth, as he got all six Infinity stones.
